It is in my art and through my art that my spirit is freest, and my voice is loudest – I owe a lot to art, to poetry, and painting with oils and acrylics.

MY GOLDEN SPRING
By Ana Algabre Hernandez
Though in my sanctuary at rest,
Doors and windows burst.
What arrogance it spurs,
This bizarrely unseasonal,
Chilly and blustery winter,
Shooed my warm breezy summer!
In ground’s darkness, it brought a smell,
So pungent, hindering all senses,
Then suddenly, birthed to one cold and bitter,
Sense of loss, fear, and shatter,
Turning skies from pale to shades of silver,
I mourned.
The darkest winter in modern history reigns.
Though amidst treacherous snow that covers,
Are quiet escapes of snowflake glitters.
Yes, this is the time when the dead feel of winter
Howled and snatched my fragrant summer,
but no, not, and never,
my sweet, sweet, green,
and golden Spring!
Bahaghari
ni Ana Algabre Hernandez
Larawan mo’y gumitaw
Sa bahagharing tanaw,
Ikaw ang ngiting patunay,
Ang hiling na abot kamay.
Ikaw ang dagdag na kulay,
Ang matingkad na rosas,
Ang bakas ng magandang bukas
Sa bahagharing pito’ng taglay.
Ikaw ang bahagharing walang wakas
Na sa kaligiran ng aking diwa, nanahan.

About Ana
Born in 1965 and raised in Angeles City, Pampanga, Philippines, ANA ALGABRE HERNANDEZ is the paradigm of a multi-talented artist— poet, painter, book author, writer for children’s stories, and art competition winner. Growing up with her father, a prolific sculptor and watercolorist, she fostered her passion for art at a young age.
She is an AB Behavioral Science cum laude graduate from the University of Sto. Tomas in Manila, Philippines and her books are, “Welcome Aboard” (2015) and “Binibining Stewardess” (2013) As a diplomat’s spouse who has traveled and lived in several countries, it is an honor for her to be able to promote the Filipino story at home and abroad— to create for a purpose, or to simply cause a reaction. She exhibited her artworks in Seoul, Ankara, and Angeles City and has donated some of her works to relevant institutions like libraries, multicultural houses and museums.
Known for her distinctly curvaceous imagery of subjects taken from imagination, her use of vivid colors radiates and her gentle strokes flow elegantly onto her canvasses. Her works immerse the viewer on themes of solitude, humanity, nature, and identity. She notes that her artworks are fruits of her grit, love, aspirations and life experiences.
“Let art into your life and your life be your art” is Ana Algabre Hernandez’s philosophy. She wishes to continue inspiring her audience with hope and gratitude through poetry in words and brush strokes.
